Part Two --

Acorn Overseas Visit to Mae Sot

Before we made it up to Mae Sot we had heard about HTF and Dhane through our friend Jen.

We could never have imagined what would await us when we got there. As we drove through the hills that surround Tak Province, we were getting very excited about meeting this group of kids who had made Jen's stay there so special.

As we arrived in Mae Sot we called Ita and got some very simple directions, but still we got lost. So we got a motorcycle taxi to lead the way.

We were greeted with smiling faces and warm words and these beautiful grubby little boys. We spent the afternoon with them and learning about the kids and what they did on a day to day basis and by nightfall we went out to buy some food and also some new clothes and shoes, bedding and toiletries with money donated by the Acorn School in England.

We arrived back at the house a few hours later with arms full of food, chicken eggs and curries. The kids dug into this food, eating with their hands and we were told later on that they hadn’t had chicken to eat for quite some weeks. After supper we stayed a while and made all the kids have their night time shower and try out their new clothes and shoes. The smiles on their faces were wonderful. We said bye and promised to return in the morning.

When we arrived the kids remembered us and were so happy to see us. We had some food and then headed down to the rive to play with their boat. They had so much fun throwing themselves into the river that separates Myanmar from Thailand.

We said goodbye shortly after and we promise to come again soon.

It was such a special visit and truly life changing  o see this community who live day by day without much money, smiling and loving the life they have been blessed with.

Acorn Overseas plans to buy some chickens for the kids and Ita and Goin, so they can have eggs and meat on a regular basis. We also intend to set up a sponsor a child scheme, so that they won
't need to worry about food and clothing so much.

We will keep you posted.

With best wishes.

Kay and Tash

Everyone at HTF Home School wants to offer up a simple prayer -- one of our kids named Gaobhai was traveling to a village near Yangon with his stepfather.  He had planned on visiting his grandfather's grave site.  We are worried because of the recent cyclone and we haven't heard from him recently.  So, Gaobhai, wherever you are, here or in Heaven, our thoughts are with you and we hope and pray for your safe return.  If you are on the other side, we wish you peace and happiness where you find yourself.
